Paloma de Melón

PALOMA DE MELÓN

  • 1½ oz. / 45 ml. mezcal

  • 1 oz. / 30 ml. fresh grapefruit juice

  • ½ oz. / 15 ml. fresh lemon juice

  • ¾ oz. / 22.5 ml. cantaloupe syrup

  • soda water to top

  • salt rim

METHOD
add all ingredients to shaker tin / add ice and shake until chilled / strain into a salt-rimmed glass over fresh ice / top with soda water / no garnish

CANTALOUPE SYRUP
blend cantaloupe / strain through cheese cloth / add equal parts sugar by weight to strained juice / shake or blend to dissolve sugar / bottle / refrigerate

ABOUT
I took the Paloma format and gave it a twist. Mezcal adds that earthiness & smoke, cantaloupe syrup brings mellow summer sweetness. The citrus keeps it bright, and the salt pulls everything together. If mezcal’s not your thing, tequila works great here too. Easy drinking with a little edge. Cheers y’all!
