EDISON’S MEDICINE

  • 1½ oz. / 45 ml. cachaça

  • ½ oz. / 15 ml. Yellow Chartreuse

  • ¾ oz. / 22.5 ml. fresh lime juice

  • ½ oz. / 15 ml. agave syrup

  • 6 basil leaves

METHOD
add all ingredients to shaker tin / shake with ice until chilled / fine strain into coupe or Nick and Nora / garnish with a basil leaf

ABOUT
This cocktail was created in 2011 by Pete Gugni at The Bedford (Chicago, IL) and I found it via Difford’s Guide. Gugni likely named this after the song of the same name by the rock band Tesla. Rightfully so, this cocktail is electric – bright, herbal, and the right kind of wild. The basil leads, cachaça follows, and Chartreuse rounds it out with a smooth, herbal edge. It’s like a mojito that’s been around. Cheers y’all!
