Lick The Desert Old Fashioned

LICK THE DESERT OLD FASHIONED

  • 1½ oz. / 45 ml. sotol

  • ½ oz. / 15 ml. Nixta elote liqueur

  • 1 tsp. / 5 ml. grenadine

  • 5 dashes Angostura bitters

  • 2 sprays habanero tincture to finish

METHOD
add all ingredients to mixing glass / stir with ice until chilled / strain into a glass over a clear BFC / spray habanero tincture over the surface / no garnish*

*I had to go the extra mile and serve it with those oh so delicious Chamoy Kettle Chips like Jordan did…because every drink deserves a snack

Last week, Jordan Hughes (@highproofpreacher) shared this Old Fashioned riff using Sotol, which is a spirit distilled from Dasylirion wheeleri (desert spoon), a wild plant native to northern Mexico’s Chihuahuan Desert. It’s not agave, but its own thing: earthy, grassy, and bright. Cheers y’all!
