Oaxacan Indigo
OAXACAN INDIGO
2 oz. / 60 ml. butterfly pea-flower infused mezcal
1 tsp. / 5 ml. Chareau aloe liqueur
1 tsp. / 5 ml. jalapeño agave syrup
4 dashes grapefruit bitters
lemon peel oil
METHOD
add all ingredients to mixing glass / stir with ice until chilled / strain into a glass over a BFC or clear ice sphere / express lemon peel oil over surface / ideally garnish with edible flower (I used a cucumber ribbon)
*If you don’t want to infuse your mezcal (it doesn’t add flavor, just color), you can alternatively add butterfly pea flower extract when stirring to get that beautiful color!

This one was created by Jordan Hughes. In this Old Fashioned riff, he uses butterfly pea-infused mezcal, giving it that bold smoky backbone and color. This is sweetened by Chareau and a hit of jalapeño agave syrup. The grapefruit bitters and lemon peel oil brighten everything up. Cheers y’all!
